Main Street fashion show to benefit charity, unite businesses

Models will hit the runway to show off classic prom and eveningwear as well as current hairstyles. There will also be a raffle for almost $1,000 in prizes.
Angel Berry, owner of Image Empire Salon, and Spring Morrow, proprietor of Frugal Fashionista, are using the show to unite local businesses and help a local charity. The raffle proceeds will be donated to Teresa House, described on its Web site as a "comfort care home" for people in their last months of life due to terminal illness.
Berry's salon will show off its hair and makeup skills at the show. Formal styles like up-dos and up-sweeps will be featured as well as contemporary cosmetic chic. Berry said she and her stylists have been monitoring the fashion pulse to keep up with latest trends, identifying Zooey Deschanel, Carrie Underwood and Charlize Theron as some inspirations. Makeup will also reflect the needs of today's ladies in vogue. "We're going to get creative with the makeup," Berry said.
Prom gowns as well as eveningwear for the after-party scene will be featured on models from area high schools of all body sizes, facial features and hair types. Clothing will be from BCBG and Forever 21, among other outlets. Everything shown will be available for sale at Frugal Fashionista, which specializes in upscale resale, and at the show itself.
"This is catching interest because it's something never done in this area before," said Leah Stacy, master stylist and publicist for Image Empire. Stacy will be joining Emily Shearing, business reporter for the Democrat and Chronicle and fashion blogger, to emcee the event.
The raffle will include such diverse prizes as a BCBG gown, limousine service credit and recording studio time. "People would be crazy not to come," Stacy said. The event is open to everyone - not just those bound to the prom.
Other businesses participating in the show include Genesee Valley Florist, Uptown Tan, From Up Above Entertainment, Michael Perry Images, Muddy Waters Coffee House, Diamonds Limousine, Big Tree Inn, Goodie Girl Cookies, Excess Studios, Silpada Jewelry and Teresa House.
