Two weeks after winning the SUNYAC tournament, Geneseo cross-country hosted the Atlantic Regional Championship at Letchworth State Park, which ended second place finishes for both squads. With these solid performances last weekend, Geneseo became the only team in the region to earn two automatic qualifiers into the NCAA meet at Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio.
It took all of regulation time, two overtimes and a penalty kick session to finally end the inspiring season of the Geneseo women's soccer team last Saturday night, as they fell to Endicott College in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament. The SUNYAC champions played an impressive game, holding a 1-1 tie into and beyond two overtime periods before they eventually lost, 6-5, in penalty kicks.
Tennis player Andre Agassi admitted in his recent autobiography that he used crystal methamphetamine in 1997 while he was in the middle of his professional career. When Agassi first failed a drug test, he lied and told the Association of Tennis Professionals that his assistant spiked a drink and he had not intentionally ingested the drug.
This past weekend the Ice Knights took on two conference opponents, SUNY Fredonia and Buffalo State, in a pair of physically-challenging contests. Although Geneseo didn't fare well on Friday, dropping the game 5-0, they bounced back on Saturday by beating Buffalo, 3-2.
The grim reality of swine flu is shown through all aspects of campus life here in Geneseo and the athletics department is no different: They have taken every precaution to prevent our athletes from coming down with the virus. Coaches began their efforts by informing their players of the risks, and starting with basic precautions.
Best Game Women's soccer falls to Endicott 1-1, 6-5 in penalty kicks At the halfway point of their season, the Knights were 5-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play. Somehow, however, the team picked itself up and didn't lose another game for the rest of the year.
The Geneseo women's equestrian team had two shows this weekend at Lehman Farms in Pittsford, N.Y., competing in a tournament hosted by Nazareth College on Saturday and hosting the second Geneseo Invitational of the year on Sunday. The team finished seventh in their first show of the weekend, and took home sixth place on Sunday.
