Did you have difficulties reconciling your own creative ideas with an already established cannon like Star Trek? The fun of doing something like this is embracing the limits. Whenever anyone says, "You can do anything you want," I find it much more difficult to respond, because there are no walls to bounce off of.
On April 23, the Spring Sing a cappella concert blissfully tickled attendees ears as No Laugh Track Required, Exit 8, Hips 'n Harmony and Southside Boys each performed for Geneseo students and staff. All proceeds from the event went to Derek Van Wyk in his fight against ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
"I'm an isle of yellow in a sea of white," Chester shouts to Travis meaningfully, introducing a significant theme of GENseng's latest production, "Cowboy v. Samurai," written by Michael Golamco. Chester, a young Asian man raised in parochial Wyoming town, and Travis, a Korean English teacher trying to escape his past life in Los Angeles, are played by sophomore Derek Weng and freshman David Sin, respectively.
A talented and ambitious artist, Geneseo's very own freshman Nicholas Pesce, has already left more than his literal mark on campus. Pesce resides in the North section of Onondaga Residence Hall and has spent much of his time over the last two semesters painting a vibrant mural in the recreational lounge across from his room.
This month, the Lederer Gallery is hosting the Senior Art Exhibit, showcasing eight senior studio art majors whose hard work and talent is shown as they express their individual perspectives on what art is. Senior Tim Park's collection, "Reflections," displays a series of architectural pictures of New York City buildings.
